Laura McWhorter is the San Antonio Regional Director
McWhorter has been member of the CARE team since 2008 and a practicing behavior analyst since 2013. McWhorter has a master’s degree in special education with concentration in autism spectrum disorders, from the University of North Texas and is currently pursuing her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from California Southern University.
She brings 8 years of prior experience, in the medical field, as a Register Nurse and 6 years of teaching experience, working across multiple disciplines and with a variety of conditions to include emotional disturbance, traumatic brain injury, down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, vocational teaching, life skills, autism, and severe behavior. She also provided teacher support and training, in the public schools, as a district behavior specialist. McWhorter uses her prior experience in the medical field and in public education to assist her in her current role with CARE. She currently provides training to teachers and staff in the form of school consult, and to parents and childcare workers in the form of lecture and public speaking engagements.
