Three Steps to Get Started

The Tricare Comprehensive Autism Care Demonstration covers ABA for all Tricare beneficiaries diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Step 1: Diagnosis

Your child must be diagnosed by a Tricare approved diagnosing provider.  Tricare requires testing using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) within one year to confirm the ASD diagnosis.  CARE can administer the ADOS-2 for clients receiving in-home ABA Programming.

Step 2: Referral and Authorization

Referrals and authorizations are required for everyone in all TRICARE plans. Your diagnosing provider will ask for a referral and authorization from your regional contractor or US Family Health Plan provider. ABA Referrals & Authorization Letters are required annually.

Step 3: Schedule Appointment

You can schedule your appointment with the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) listed in the authorization letter as soon as you receive the Tricare Authorization. If CARE is not the provider listed on your authorization letter, please contact your regional contractor to request CARE.
