Functional Behavioral Assessments

Trained personnel under the supervision of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) will conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) which is a process that involves:

Assessment

• The identification and operational definition of the targeted behavior.
• Antecedent and Consequent Events surrounding the targeted behavior.
• Provision of an ecological assessment in the settings in which the target behavior occurs. This could include the home, school, and/or community setting.
• A review of the records available such as medical and school records including previous interventions that were used to address the targeted behavior.
• Conduct interviews with caregivers, parents, and staff members and student when appropriate.
• The development of a hypothesized function for the targeted behavior.

  Meeting
  • Meet with pertinent individuals to discuss the results of the FBA and make recommendation

Behaviorial Intervention Plans

Trained personnel under the supervision of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) will develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).

• The provision of training school personnel how to determine if a formal BIP isneeded.
• The provision of training school personnel the process of identifying possible behavioral supports
• The provision of training school personnel how to involve parents and students in BIP process.
• The provision of training school personnel in specific strategies for behaviorproblem areas

Design of BIP

• The provision of training school personnel how to design a BIP

Implementation of BIP

• The provision of training and support to school personnel regarding how to implement a BIP.Data collection and analysis of the BIP.

• Academic Support – Trained personnel will be assigned to provide tutoring and academic support to your student in all major curricular areas. Personnel will be matched to your child’s individualized needs and curricular area focus.
• Strategic Tutoring – Trained personnel will be assigned to provide strategic tutoring services to your child who focuses on how to be a strategic learner.
• Strategy Instruction - A wide-range of research-based strategies are offered to meet your child’s individualized learning needs. The strategies are part of the Strategic Instructional Model (SIM) from the Kansas University-Center for Research and Learning (KU-CRL). Each strategy takes approximately 8-10 weeks to implement. The strategies can be implemented on an individual basis or in small groups.
